There were packs of them in different sections. I was flying back to shore where I was standing and they came into that area. That is definitely lot of birds, both them and you did great flying to get out of there. did they come in while you were already up?
I once had a Peregrine Falcon come and check me out...I flew under a bride and he lived on the bridge. I've flown there 1000 times and only saw him once. Otherwise the birds are no problem.Whoa. Was that the old HSMAASUP; "Hit Sport Mode and Ascend Straight Up Pronto" move? Nicely managed. I get stalked by Red Tailed Hawks a lot in North Carolina. They arrive in a large flock -called "kettles" - then roost in trees surrounding my entire flight area and communicate in croaking tones that sound like ravens. Intimidating to someone who has seen Hitchcock's The Birds, or even if you haven't!
Here they have up to almost 5 feet (141 cm) wingspan, can be 2 feet (65 cm) long and up to 3.5 pounds (1.6 kg). They leave my Autel alone - maybe the Orange color, but more likely the size. They stalk the Mini 2 /Air 2, but to date none have had contact, which would be a bad situation with the drone likely coming out the loser; not something I hope never to find out.
That is incredible! I couldn't stop watching it. So much to see, you can't take it all in on one viewing.
