Instead of throwing bulging batteries away why not keep them and use as phone or other equipment chargers. I understand not flying with them but you should be able to use them to recharge other equipment with it providing you have the DJI usb cable. Correct me if I am wrong in doing this I do not see the harm but open for suggestions since these things are not cheap.

I love the idea of being clever with these batteries however when they start to swell they basically become a very dangerous Smoke bomb.

Were talking thick black smoke that can last for 20 minutes and ruin your house not just with the smoke but the smell.

I was lucky mine imploded in the Garage , but it took a year to get the smell out and left a black imprint to remind me dont drop these batteries on the cement.

So I would recommend garage play only if your going to mess with them.

I think they might be a good secondary repurposing, but like others say, they can be dangerous. I would advise using them only if you can monitor them 100% of the time they are in use and not in a case, purse, pocket or anything where you don't have direct VLOS of the battery while it's charging.

I have two Radio Controlled Trucks with Lipo batteries. Same battery technology as DJI.
At first, I had problems with bulging batteries. I figured out, it was from me charging them while they were still warm. Now, I let them reach room temperature before charging.

I'm not saying this is what caused your problem. It's just something I learned the hard way.

Its not worth the risk of catching fire there is a reason for the swelling their defective just my opinion . God bless and please stay safe
