I assume the dumbed-down Fly app will -eventually- be able to be swapped for Litchi and suchlike. Has anyone tried it yet?

It would be cool if follow-me modes, waypoints, and such could just sneak onto the MM.

I've seen response from Litchi where they say they want to do this, and need the SDK, etc...

But what I don't know at all and am asking - I don't have Litchi or any of the other aftermarket controllers, so I'm unaware of HOW to mate up a drone to the software... What happens if you have Litchi and you fire up a MM? (Or any other DJI drone, for that matter.)

Does the MM just not show up as being able to be linked to?

Or do some of these apps have ability to connect regardless?

i believe that the different operating systems are in the form of a app like the go4 ,and you purchase the app and then use it to fly the drone instead of the go4 ,dont use anything like that myself so could be wrong at this time the MM is not able to use any other apps than the go fly

All third party flight apps replace the DJI flight app and you use it instead to fly the drone. You don’t have to ‘mate’ anything. In fact having more than one flight app open at the same time while flying can cause problems.

As far as I know third party flight apps need the SDK from DJI to work so until DJI releases the MM SDK, there will be no third party flight apps that work with it and therefore no added features like tracking/follow, automated panos, or waypoints.

I have Go 3 for my P3, Go 4 for my M2, and Airmap installed on my phone and tablet. When I connect the P3 or M2 remote, Android asks which of the 3 apps should use the USB.

With the Mini, it only prompts for the Fly app so it seems the MM RC sends a different signature over the USB than the P3 or M2.
