In the UK us of 5.8 Ghz is licence free. You just need an antenna with lots of gain, something like a yagi or a dish, and a pal to point it at the drone. Any other frequencies are subject to the granting a licence from the Dept Of Trade & Industry, and do not require a Ham licence. BTW, how do you get a waiver for flying beyond VLOS?

I fly with a group. We have plenty of spotters so no need for waiver. FPV Droning is getting harder and harder to enjoy We have almost been regulated to our A.M.A. (R.C. Airplane) designated flying field.
