This is mostly for @msinger, but I thought I'd post it here in case the resolution (hopefully one is found!) is helpful to others. I've been Googling around and can't find anything helpful.

Summary:
When trying to grab .DAT files off my Mavic Pro, I get the error dialog - "The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "FLYxxx.DAT" can't be read or written. (Error code -36)."

Longer Version:
  1. I thought I'd play around a bit with the CsvView and DatCon tools from datfile.net. No particular reason. I don't feel like working this afternoon, so why not?
  2. I follow the directions to grab the .DAT here. I'm on MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 and have DJI Assistant 2 v1.1.2 -2. (As an aside, that versioning scheme is confusing AF). Anyway, the directions for v 1.0.9 seem to match up with what I'm seeing.
  3. Sure enough, I see the DJI FLY LOG volume mounted in the Mac Finder. Go in there and try to grab a few .DAT's to copy locally and play around with.
  4. Not so easy. As soon as I try even one of them, I get the above error.
  5. Googling around tells me to run the dot_clean utility. I do. It completes without error. Same results. I suspect it's because the volume is mounted read only.
As an auxiliary question/observation -- the internal volume (DJI FLY LOG) only appears to be visible if the "external" SD card is mounted in the Mavic. This confused me to no end for a while. I'd follow the instructions and the DJI FLY LOG volume would not be mounted in Finder. I was ready to flip the table and go back to work, but then noticed the external SD card was not in the Mavic. I inserted it, tried again and, magic, the DJI FLY LOG appeared. I'm not sure if that's expected behavior or not.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Same plane (boat) here. Trying to use the viewer and get nowhere.
When mavic is powered up open assistant 2 find flight logs get to page of listing click on it to open or save somewhere do it then open up viewer and can't seem to make it do anything for list anything that I can import.
Do note I'm a older guy not super tech experienced.
I was hoping someone on you tube would do a instructional video. My brain seems to understand that learning best.

Got it, saved files to documents then was able to import with viewer. Wouldn't see files put on desktop, it was showing as shortcut.

Now if I can just make since of what I'm looking at !

We have a winner! I can copy the .DAT's to any other folder I'd like to except for my Desktop. I don't understand why, but whatever. Thanks to Super Dave for figuring this one out!
