Will be in the Cape Canaveral /Cocoa Beach area at the end of February. Any recommendations on the best places to fly? Especially for sunset/sunrise shots?

Hello,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Mavic Pilots forum.
I hope that you will be able to use the forum to further your safety knowledge and for the exchange of innovative ideas and as a resource for
current developments in Mavic quadcopter’s. Read the manual a few times and watch lots of Youtube videos on the subject to give yourself a good start.
Enjoy! Thumbswayup

Welcome to DronePilots newest forum . :)

I'm new to flying drones, but just wanted to let you know there is a huge no-fly zone around NASA/the cruise ship areas, as well as an air force base on A1A a bit south of Cocoa.

That being said, I think the cocoa beach pier is out of those limits and could be a pretty backdrop for a sunrise :) I've always found the causeways going over the river to get to the ocean to be pretty too, maybe you could do that for a sunset.

Great!! Thanks for the tip. I'll check out the no-fly zones and be sure to stay clear of them.

Merritt Island is a National Wildlife Refuge and a no fly zone, and there are military installations/ class D airspace, but those NFZ's are established by the Feds, same as the the restrictions around private airports.

I see no mention of a local regulation banning sUAV's above and beyond the NFZ's on B4UFLY

Welcome to Mavic Pilots from Dayton Ohio! I used to live there when I was younger, lived in Port St. John and went to school on Merritt Island (way before my drone days). Fly safe and have fun!
