Latest CASA "Know your drone" newsletter, has a link to Airservices Aust website page regarding . . .

"Airservices Australia has selected four companies to begin prototyping Australia’s first Flight Information Management System (FIMS) which will support the safe and efficient integration of emerging airspace users, including drone operators and air taxis, into Australia’s low-altitude airspace."

Sounds like RID coming our way most likely.

"Airservices Chief Customer Experience & Strategy Officer Peter Curran said FIMS will be a central component of the Uncrewed Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) ecosystem, providing common situational awareness among everyone operating in Australian airspace."

It'll be good if the info IS shared all round, I don't think manned aircraft get info on drones in an area with RID (?).
This will probably be tied in with upcoming recreational drone pilots required to basic rules test, register / label drone(s), etc.

Website upload late January, so not sure how many might have come across that already.

More money. ☹️

Probably some cost to rec users.
Think it'll be pretty light though, possibly just a basic pilot accreditation and a reg number to put on drone(s).

If we can get something in return, it'd be great . . .

Maybe the ability to get flight approvals for certain normally restricted areas easily in the field, perhaps in low risk or remote areas, approval to fly BVLOS a little way below 50m AGL, or such.
