Hello Chaosrider:

Sorry to see your drone’s collision. I’ve found it helpful to disable sideways flight via settings when flying in really close proximity to potential obstacles. That way I’m always seeing what’s in front of my drone. It’s helped me avoid similar crashes several times.

Is that setting available for the Mini-2?

The DJI failure analysis and mine are a bit different for this incident. It was pilot error in either case, so that's not at issue.

There's more to that footage that I have to find. It turns out that sometimes during a crash, the drone will transmit some video that doesn't get onto the card. I saved that before it vanished from my phone cache.

What I thought I was doing after the close encounter, was just rotating the drone so that I could find a safe way out! Then a demonic pine tree reached out and grabbed it. I was deep in the canyon, and I think I lost GPS signal, and that the drone then tried to climb to RTH altitude...while under a branch...

This was still pretty early in my droning life. I haven't crashed in months, and I'm doing more challenging things. I just wish there was a way to deal with the depth perception problem.

Good point! That was a useless suggestion, wasn't it? I fly both the Mini 2 and the Air 2, causing me to frequently forget which can do what.
