I’ve tried to find the maximum charging rate for the controller with a Mini3 Pro. The one with the screen. Connecting it to 100 W charger I was getting 12. Is that the max or close to the max charging rate?

Should be a bit higher ... but it's limited to 15 W (5V with 3 A) as the manual says.
A full charge should be done from 0 in about 1,5 h. So it's not that far off. The RC is not charging as fast as the batteries.

The RC Pro for instance is charging at higher voltage, 12 V or 15 V but also needs 2 h or 1,5 h with higher A of course (roughly 3,7 A). So calculating from 5,000 mAh (at 7,2 V) it may use up to 55 W.

That's not necessary in the case of the smaller RC (5,200 mAh at 3,6 V), as 1,5 h most likely suffice for most people, makes the components cheaper and reduces stress, ie temperature, in higher input power.

I ran out of battery on my RC controller and plugged it into an Ecoflow battery and saw it was only delivering 12 (or was it 14?) watts and was surprised. I thought maybe the Ecoflow was at fault till I realized these PD type batteries "ask" for the juice and this confirms it's all normal. I'll have to be more careful with my controller and keep recharging it. I was able to use the controller while plugged into the Ecoflow but it didn't charge fast enough to use it otherwise. I was hoping 10 or 15min would get me enough for another few flights but having it plugged in worked well enough. Thanks for the information.

You are welcome.
For charging and simultaneously using the controller, I guess DJI would have needed to beef up the battery, charging controller, etc. which certainly led to another price tag.

Glad I could help.

Agreed. It is mildly disappointing that it charges so slowly but I don't completely drain it often and I'll just have to take care to charge it more throughout the day. I don't think my RC-N1 has ever drained during a day, no doubt due to the fact it is not playing video!

Indeed, display is certainly a battery drainer but compared to my Smart Controller with the M2P, I really can get through the day with about 7 - 8 flights (~ 22 - 25 mins each). If not, I'll hook it up to my 100 W powerbank and let it charge with the batteries too.
