I was feeling a little spirited and thought I would try to fly between the steel girders of a bridge and get some good shots from inside the bridge. I thought it would be safer if I switched to tripod mode and move around very slowly. Very bad idea. As expected, I lost compass and with that it was drifting all over the place. Tripod mode wasn't allowing me to move fast enough to overcome some of the drift. I was too scared to take my thumbs off the sticks and try to cancel tripod mode (sticks were hard over). Needless to say I had some close calls to some beams and I didn't even get any good shots out of the ordeal. Anyway, I got very lucky to make it back out without crashing. I never knew how important those compasses are to maintain position (I might have lost some GPS satellites as well though-no warnings).
Anyway, word of advice, stay away from bridges!!!
