Controller battery low warning on the Mini?

Watch the lights on top of the controller. I have never let mine go down to see. Always top it off when I come in and recharge my batteries.

always start off with fully charged batteries i have an ios device and even after flying my 4 batteries to around 40% my RC still has 3 steady lights and one flashing the battery life is actually better than my MPP as it does not have a screen to power on the controller

When the battery on the controller gets low during a flight is there some sort of warning? Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes your RC will start beeping and you will have about 5 minutes before it shuts down. You will also get a warning message in the Fly app. If you don’t return home in time your MM will attempt landing whereever it is.

Now that is the answer I was looking for. Is that info written somewhere or did you learn it from experience? Thanks again for the info.

Am I wrong to think that constantly topping off any battery will have a negative effect on said battery? I thought that I read somewhere that sometimes you should run the battery down very low then recharge to full to prevent something called memory coding on the battery.

What is the reason behind only running your drone batteries down to 40%?

Hasn’t never affected mine and been doing it since I started with a FC40. I keep and always have all the drones I’ve had topped off.
I also am bad about running my drone batteries below 10% occasionally then back to full. Just something I have always done. Everyone has a different opinion on this but is just what I do. Unless it’s raining I fly almost everyday if nothing
but to release stress.

Thank you so much for getting back to me with all the info. I am very new to droning and especially to this wonderful forum. You do a great job as moderator as well as sharing your wisdom with us newbies. It is definitely much appreciated. I bought my MM about a month ago and have quickly become addicted to flying. Thanks again for all the help.

It is my understanding that the program automatically sends a signal when your battery drops to 30%. What I receive is a msg. that says, "Battery low, device will return to home in 10 seconds." If you click on the return to home button once, quick, it cancels that command and you can return yourself. I have not gone far enough to find out what happens after that.

What happens is it will continue to fly till a certain point
then will start to autoland on its on. Course you can fight that
by giving it more stick up. But when it gets critically low it’s coming down. Wherever it is.
I have been there many times with my Phantoms and my Mavics.
I had to drain a battery the other day I’m my mini and held it
about a foot of the ground. At 0% it just went down on me.
How much below 0 it still will spin I don’t know.

In this post are you referring to the battery in the Mini itself or the battery in the controller? Other than the 4 lights on the controller there is no readout on the percentage charge remaining in the controller battery is there?

I’m sorry I was talking about the drone battery.
No there’s no readout for the controller like in the Go App.
just the lights.

unlike Dc i am not able to fly nearly every day,so unlike him if i ran my batteries to say 20% then i would have to recharge them back up to say 40 to 50% for storage,if i know that i am able to fly 2 days in a row then i would let them go lower than 40%, lipos do not have charge memory like NICAD batteries and i do not do the deep discharge cycle either ,i have had no issues with any of my batteries heat is the biggest killer of lipos ,and cold affects their performance ,by only going down to 40% i know that the battery is safe to leave, till i next need to charge it again to go flying i have only once had a battery go into self discharge mode ,because of a sudden change in the weather and i was unable to use it on the day i have my self discharge setting at 3 days

You know my habit of leaving mine topped off came from not only being where I am and can fly almost everyday
but from in the P2 days you never took off with a partially
charged battery. Habit of that and used to totally deplete
them about evert 10 charges . I just never changed my ways even though the battery technology advanced. Had never
seen nothing different with mine so guess I just stuck with it.
In all these years and all the batteries I have only had 2 issues.a P3 with a bad cell that drain to fast and shut down and this lasted Mini battery which you know of omm.
At least that one didn’t just stop 40’ up like my P3 4K one.
DJI did replace the bird even though it was out of warranty
but the battery wasn’t .Guess it was they wanted to do as this Mini one. Give em a new one so he will shut up.
Ok guys being I took this thread ot talking about drone battery’s I will report myself. Corse I will work the report?and say Let’s get back to the OT guys.?
