I right clicked on a picture taken with my Mavic 3 and went to Details to show the GPS coordinates and it's showing a long series of numbers such as 38; 31; 7.11569999999482. How do I convert this to a simple 7 digit format? Any help is appreciated.

ChatGPT is wondering if this is what you are looking for:

Sure, to convert these decimal degrees into degrees, minutes, and seconds (DMS), you would follow these steps:

  1. The whole units of degrees will remain the same.
  2. Multiply the decimal by 60 (minutes in a degree). The whole number becomes the minutes.
  3. Take the remaining decimal and multiply by 60 again. The result becomes the seconds.
Doing this calculation, we get:

  • Latitude 7.11569999999482°:
    • Degrees = 7
    • Minutes = (0.11569999999482 * 60) = 6.9419999996892 ≈ 6.94
    • Seconds = (0.9419999996892 * 60) = 56.519999980352 ≈ 56.52
  • Longitude 38°:
    • Degrees = 38
    • Minutes = 0 (since there's no decimal part)
    • Seconds = 0 (since there's no decimal part)
So, the GPS coordinates in DMS format would be:

7°6'56.52" N, 38°0'0" E.

A little hard to do the math but thanks for giving me a start!

Google will take you directly to a converter, if you don't like Google try Duck Duck Go that probably works too.

XnViewMP convert these decimal from the exif and show you the location on Google Maps, Google Earth, Open Street Maps or GeoHack...
