I just got a Mavic 2 pro and I was wondering what the suggested firmware is?
I saw a thread on the DJI site about the most recent firmware having problems.
However, I also saw another thread I believe on here about the most recent firmware where people were hoping it would be fixing some random crashes so now I am confused.
Please advise. :)

This is the question that will always get you even more confused... and is often discussed.
myself, I ALWAYS do the updates. EVERY update. Firmware, software, and IOS or OS, device updates. I have never ever had a problem. Every release has patched bugs, added new features, or adjusted for IOS /OS updates. There are very many owners here that agree with this.
Then you have people that confuse firmware and software, that will chime in and give you bad advise. Then there are the people that have read about a possible problem, have never done an update, and will comment as to why you shouldn't.
If you are under DJI warranty, I suggest you do every one. That way NOT doing it cant be used against you if there is a warranty issue in your future.
Most people dont want to think they made a mistake, and usually blame the updates. Some times the updates cause issues with certain older, less capable devices, or devices with not enough free resources. (device = phone or tablet FYI)
Ultimately, I choose to follow what the Manufacturer suggests before doing what some random person with a story on the internet says I should do.
In the end, It is up to you. Good luck!

There's really only one to use so far for the M2, aka the latest. The only other one was missing a lot more stuff.

LOL. That just changed with today's new release. The current one is stable for me, but I want to try out the precision landing. I usually wait for reports of what works well or doesn't work well before updating. I may not wait on this one. :)

Actually there were two prior firmware releases.
First was at release of M2 where it was shipped with .600, strongly urged you to upgrade to 1.0.
Then a little over a month later, 1.001 came out.
Now as of today we have 1.002

Actually the first firmware was referenced in Kilrah's reply. He just said the 2nd one is the only one worth using
