I all ready owned the tablet...
so I wasn't really expecting this tablet to work... although the specs say it might.
blahblahblahblah.... EDITED because shortly after posting....
... just discovered a new post TODAY ! by Loudthunder.. that solved my problem.
Turn on USB Debugging....
which described using an older tablet...

Although the screen brightness is probably unusable in full sun light.
I have on order a Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e 64 GB which people have said works well and definitely has higher Nits (brightness).
