I am new, only about 8 actual flights in and I experienced some delays getting off the ground this weekend.

First of all, iPhone IOS 11.2.1 is installed on the phone and the DJI app was installed after ISO 11 was downloaded and installed.

I powered the controller on first with the phone connected and the App running and then the Mavic Pro. Never connected until powered down the Mavic Pro and powered back up again. Does the controller need to come on for a period before powering up the drone? Seems hit and miss. Trying to see some consistency in perhaps what I am doing out of sequence, just have enough flights. The controller noted a Firmware update which I allowed also.

Having fun, nonetheless.

What do you see in DJI GO during the times when it does not connect as expected?

In the Upper left side of the DJI Go 4 App Screen I see the word: “Disconnected”. I tried to tap that word “Disconnected” thinking it may initiate something, didn’t work. I then tapped on the “DJI” logo just to the left of the word: “Disconnected”. Nothing.

So I powered the Mavic off and back on and then it connected. Seems that I Have done this process on the few flights I am made. Just does not seem that this should be the way it should be.

If there was a mavic user (haven’t found them yet) locally, I would asked these “stupid” questions on the forum. I feel that way when I asked a question and some of the first replies say “READ THE MANUAL”.

Using my iPhone 7, the order of everything doesn't matter. If the order matters for you, then why not always connect everything in the order you know works?

Ok. I will. I am just wondering why I have to power it up a second time for it connect. I accept that if that’s the norm.

Some mobile devices require a specific order, so there really is no norm. Like I said, use the startup sequence that you know works.

I think this one will work with all mobile devices:
  • Power up the remote controller
  • Power up the Mavic
  • Wait 30 seconds
  • Start DJI GO
