Disconnect Prevention???

Relatively new to drone flying. There are so many posts on the forum related to disconnects and the perils that ensue. What are the primary causes of this problem, and any precautions to help reduce the risk? Thanks

To reduce the risks associated with disconnects you should start by making sure all your RTH settings are set correctly. Next I would want to be sure that the RTH location has been updated prior to take off and confirm it on the map. Then upon take off I would hover for a bit before heading out on my flight/mission. Next I would try to keep a check on my RC signal strength as I continued my flight and when it starts to decrease I would increase my altitude where practical. This "usually" increases the signal strength. There are plenty of good videos on youtube on the subject.

Thank you T.R. for pointing out monitoring RC signal strength. Embarrassed to say I've never looked at it. Easy to get preoccupied with the photographic aspects. That will change on the next flight.
