DJI Air 4 leak... Kind of

Between my Air 3S and waiting on a refurb 2S to arrive, my fleet is good for a while. That, and I want to see what the impact of Chinese tariffs looks like.

Add 10%. It's not a Chinese tariff, but a tariff imposed by the US president, to be added to the cost of goods purchased by folks in the US.

It is actually 10% on declared value which is typically the bull cost before reseller markup. If the prices go up 10% that's a pretty good indication of price gouging by the distributors.

So, expect an increased cost of less than 10% to the end purchaser.

Only if DJI and the retailer choose not to eat it, which isn't for certain.

In fact, I expect them to do exactly the that, prices remaining unchanged.

In which case it is, in fact, China that's paying the tariff, not the US consumer.

In practice this is how tariffs work out in reality. There is a mix of price increases at the consumer end, and some reduced profit margins at the producer end. Where a product falls on that "sliding scale" isn't some simple formula... A big manufacturer may be willing to absorb 100% of the tariff in reduced earnings for quite awhile while the issue gets worked out politically.

The tariff analyses that have been offered in the press are moronically simplistic, and grossly misinform the public as to the actual economic and pricing impact. When all is said and done, across the entire scope of goods imported from China the cost will be borne by both Chinese manufacturers and American customers.

Air leaks from small compartments in a drone are ordinary. Air pressure drops as altitude increases, and since DJI drones are not designed to be airtight, some Air will leak out as it ascends.

Oh wait... Air 4?

Never mind... 😁😁
