The motors are Axisflying C157-2 Motors, a bit larger than the stock motors. The advantage over stock is that they can draw more current and produce more power allowing them to use 3.5" props instead of the stock 3" props. They are speced out to the max that the stock ESC can handle. After around 40 seconds of full throttle the Flight controller senses the high current demand and the power is automatically reduced. The wider overall frame as well as the smaller shrouds around the props and higher thrust completely change the nature of this little drone. This is really the drone DJI should have produced in the first place imo.Curious..What use are the new motors when you cant tune the Drone? Because of this they would have to be the same spec. motor or if not, they would act the same.
could you show some flight data?
Thanks. It took me around 10 hours and requires good soldering skills and dexterity to work with all the tiny screws. Quite a few people failed to complete the upgrade from what I have heard. Yes, the upgraded Avata still uses the same Flight controller so all the same controls and goggles are used, no hacking needed. I have other sport and long range FPV drones and the DJI system is far superior imo. DJI RTH is much better than Betaflight Failsafe and of course you still have N and S modes which they do not. Axisflying makes a Cineon C35 3.5 inch cinewhoop with the DJI 03 air unit that sells for $560 so very similar to the upgraded Avata but without the DJI benefits. The Avata 2 is a good option with the better camera, but it has the death roll just like the Avata 1. Basically I stopped flying my Avata for the past year because it was useless for aerobatics. The upgraded Avata 3.5' is kind of in a class of its own since there is nothing else out there quite like it!Nice Work. Interesting concept. How long did it take to do the complete mod? The kits are not very exspensive would bring new life to a lot of available Avata 1s. Does the standard DJI control methods still work or do they need hacking.
