So i woke up this morning to a email saying Dji will not replace my lost drone, BUT THEY WOULD GIVE ME A 15% DISCOUNT ON MY NEXT PURCHASE. apparently a weak signal was the cause, the drone then RTH. and they will not cover the warranty even though the drone is less than 2 months old, and the Dji care service is not valid as i cannot recover the drone, maybe i should contact the little mermaid or sebastian from the little mermaid to recover it, id have a better chance than to have to deal with DJI.

so in closing this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth and i will not waste money on a drone again

Sorry you had a bad experience. I am guessing you lost it over water based on your comments. I would think it odd you had a weak signal being over water unless you were a long way out. Also what happened in the RTH? If you had everything set correctly it should have come back unless you were too far away and it ran out of power. Not trying to say it was your fault or anything but trying to figure out what may have happened so others can learn from the loss.

Sorry you had a bad experience though. I have had my Mavic for 2 years now without any issues and luckily I haven't had to deal with DJI or warranty. I didn't buy a fly more pack when I bought mine.

Have you posted your flight logs somewhere for viewing?
Was the determination that RTH was set to low for the objects your flying near?

With "Drone Return" as a key requirement of DJI Care (which I bought with my M2Z) ... I always know that I'm assuming greater risk when flying over water or where any crash-zone would be inaccessible. I do understand their part of this however, in that no requirement to return anything would likely result in huge abuse of this program, as people "claim" they lost their drone, get a new one, and then sell the old one or keep it for spare parts.

Not saying I love the policy. Just saying (a) I understand it, and (b) imposing this restriction is probably what keeps the insurance affordable.

I am so confused.
That is why I was asking him for some additional information. I wasn't sure what happened between the lost link and RTH. I would think that if you lost link and RTH at some point on the return trip you would have regained signal. I have lost link before and that happened. The only thing I could have thought might happen is if his RTH settings weren't correct, or if he didn't have enough power to RTH.

I took the Little Mermaid references to mean it went Deep 6 somewhere so I wouldn't think he hit any objects.

I just don't understand the anger in some of these posts. I *get* the frustration. But it's like most people aren't even asking for help. They are just getting angry as if to say DJI even reads this forum, or cares.

It's an odd approach. What I do understand is people who post logs and ask for help in determining what happened. I read once that the direct result of someone posting their logs here actually got DJI to overturn a prior determination.

Do all these people really believe that if they lose something the manufacturer should replace it? Never heard of a warranty that covers loss of the item.
That is why I went with the State Farm Personal Articles Policy rather than the DJI Care. If I Deep 6 it while flying over/photographing a waterfall or it decides to fly away and join the drones planning world domination, then I just file a claim and get a new drone.

Good deal. I contacted two local SF guys and they won't write me a policy unless they get my autos and house as well. Too much risk they said, and they don't think SF will be offering this much longer.
