you can purchase it upon receiving your drone when you register it with DJI for the first time to activate it, then you have 48 hours to purchase it ,you normally get a prompt that takes you to the DJI site for purchase of care refresh

I recommend it. For not too much money comparative to the cost of whatever drone you end up getting, you can protect yourself for a year. I know quite a few people that kicked themselves after deciding not to get it and either having to buy a new drone, or get a costly repair for way more than the refresh would of cost.

I got care refresh but check with your insurance company some will let you insure it and they cover it even if you lose the drone which care refresh does not

My personal experience of using care refresh was when my poor old drone crashed into a pole the side sensors didn't see and it fell to earth in kit form.

Scooped up the bits, sent it back to DJI and got a replacement. So I'd buy it for sure.

You have 48hrs from setting it up if dont take out at same time as purchase. You can still get it after this time, but requires a good few min vid. This has to show it all working and to specifics they ask for(gimble op, flying etc etc). I emailed them to no avail being just a few hours past the dead line.
So i took out an insurance policy instead. £60 for the year(care is £79) i am covered for value of air 2. Excess is £50 (care is £69 for 1st claim and £99 after iirc). So for what works out at £5 a month, with £1m liability thrown in, its not end of the world for me. I think it is important to have some kind of protection, it can be a little unnerving flying a chunk of money in the air. With cover i find i have relaxed more and can enjoy it more........daft as it sounds. Just thoughts
