DJI Comments on Drone Ban.

"DJI’s loyal customer base found a glimmer of hope in the details of the ruling. The FCC clarified that previously purchased drones were exempt from this prohibition, allowing current users to continue utilizing their devices without interruption."

When I read this statement, I get the impression it was possible this could have gone another way?

Also, the drone ban on existing units is now clear, however, there is still the problem with them making it through customs due to the reported child labor issues.

Did they really pose a drone near that ring of fire or is that a composited image?

So if they didn't ban already-approved DJI drones, can they sell them in the US or distribute through other sellers or once they run out of inventory which were already in the channel, they can't order more from DJI?

Earlier in December, the FCC placed DJI on the covered list. This means there will be no more FCC certifications issued to DJI going forward. In the meantime, everything else DJI in America continues a usual.

Which implies that only future production of DJI products present a supposed threat to US national security and commerce etc blah, blah, blah, whereas current models continue to be of acceptable risk? How does that make sense to anyone?

I mostly agree with that but it only tells me they have a quick solution on how to take care of any future products but not yet a solid solution on how to deal with the current models.

To me, the Dec 22 FCC actions are not a comprehensive reflection on how they feel about how to handle the total risk to national security posed by all foreign-made drones. If we could get inside their minds or take a look at their "roadmap" then we can see the bigger picture on how they plan to deal with this. Or....if only we had some experience or maybe even a precedent to work off from when it comes to these types of situations, we might have a good idea on what's coming and the next time, we don't get caught with our pants down. ;)

Your search for sense in this case is futile!
