DJI Matrice 4 Series Introduced.

Quite expensive, but it's basically porn.

Thermal, rangefinder, tele, AI based detection to easily find people/animals/cars in the frame...

The thermal has the same resolution than the M3T and the M2 enterprise advanced, but the overall drone is way better.

Very disappointed that this drone is not IP55 Rated. We work in a tropical climate with 6 months of rain. The M30 is best for us. Until they make one with an IP55 rating I'll pass!

The resolution on the thermal is the same, but man have they spruced up the image. It looks like they have their own version of FLIR MSX and other image enhancements. The resulting image on live view blows away the M30T. It will not be as good as the true 1280 sensor in the H30T with finding smaller anomalies, but it will do the best possible with 640 resolution.

This review shows the M30T and the M4T side by side and I was impressed.

curious about the 4E:

* is the 4/3 CMOS camera the same as on the Mavic 3 Pro?

* can the laser range finder be rotated enough vertically to be used to measure AGL distance?

if you look at the features of the combo package without considering cost, this would be a great drone because you also get the RC 2 E controller. But the $4800 price tag is pretty steep compared to the Mavic 3

As far as what has been released, what is on reviews and what is listed in the specifications, it is the same 4/3 CMOS sensor.

I am not sure I am following you on the laser range finder. It can look nadir and report the distance to the ground if that's what you mean. I am not sure why looking zenith would get you AGL. I have used the range finder on our Matrice 300RTK and M30T for using the 400 feet within 400 feet rule regularly and it makes measuring the distances really easy.

I think you are right about the price. Part of the increase is the new controller. I assume that the extra camera for zoom, the computing power for AI and the built in RTK also factor into the increase.

I don't know if this is enough of an upgrade for those having a Mavic 3 Enterprise, but for me, it is a substantial increase in capabilities compared to my Phantom 4 RTK. It will most likely map at the same GSD in half the time.

thanks for the reply

yes, I was wondering about using the laser to occasionally measure distance to the ground to insure staying within that 400' limitation. I've never used a range-finder so I don't know about what's possible and what's not

I just use drones for recreation. I have a Mavic 3 and I use a Tripltek 8" for the control screen. The Matrice 4E certainly has quite a few features I don't have with the Mavic 3. I have found that I rarely use the 7X 'zoom'. So the 2 tele cameras, while nice to have options, aren't a big selling point for me

the RC 2 E with Occusync 4.0 has a little more appeal. But knowing that the price tag on that controller is $1600, and that it's not backward compatible with the Mavic line brings up the bang-for-buck-equation, and it's hard for me to justify even considering the Matrice 4E because of cost. I'm not made of money and $5000 for a recreational drone is way too steep

nice to think about though
