DJI Neo 2 Plus Battery Test

I did a test of a new Neo 2 Plus battery purchased fromAliExpress:

This Plus battery has 3300 mAh compared to the stock Neo 2 Standard battery that is 1606 mAh. That is two times the mAh of the Standard Neo 2 battery.

The test consisted of measuring the hover time of the DJI Neo 2,from 100% power to 20% power as shown in the fly app on an RC2 controller. The Neo 2 is stock, propeller guards installed, and transmission module attached. The Neo 2 with Standard battery weighs 160.7g, the Neo 2 with Plus battery weighs 198g.

The Neo 2 was hovered at 4.6ft in my dining room, 70 degrees F, with no air movement other than the moving air from the propellers. Each of the batteries tested was charged two times with a flight to use up battery power after the first charge. The second flight test was with each of the batteries fully charged.

The stock Standard battery hovered for 11.1 minutes before being landed at 20% battery power. This time is consistent with other reports of Neo 2 hover and flight time.

The Plus battery hovered for 16.2 minutes before being landed at 20% battery power.

The Plus battery flew 46% longer than the Neo 2 Standard battery.

Of interest is the short hover flight time for the standard battery compared to specifications. The Neo 2 has a spec flight time of17-19 minutes. Of course, hover time would be shorter. DJI flight time specs are for the Neo 2 without propeller guards and transmission module installed.

IMO a Neo 2 drone deficiency is the short flight time with the Standard battery. The Plus battery improves the Neo 2 flight time by 46%.

Thanks for posting that. It's good to see a controlled comparison with solid details. That battery sounds worth checking out, though at $85, it's a bit pricey.

It seems counter-intuitive, but hovering doesn't produce the longest flight duration. The DJI ratings are based on slow flight at a constant speed.

The ratings would be even worse than just hovering in the open air as the test was done in a closed room and the drone would set up some constant air flows that would further reduce the lift generated causing more work to be done by the drone.
