So I’m looking into purchasing my next drone for business. I’d like to get some opinions on which drone I should purchase. I’m looking at the DJI Phantom 4 Pro v2.0 and the Autel Evo II Pro.

Please vote and comment with your opinions. Thank you!

This is a good one! I’m kinda in the same boat. If you had said P4P v2+ with the built in screen I’d be tempted to go with that.

I think we have to see how the Evo II Stacks up once it comes out but in comparison video of the Evo II vs the Mavic 2 I haven’t been all that impressed and P4P v2 blows Mavic 2 out of the water.

P4P V2 is still best drone besides the Inspire 2 you can buy today.

if I do go for the Evo 2 it’s going to be the Pro with the 1” sensor. I think that’ll make a huge difference.

Yea I meant the Evo II pro with the 1” sensor. The sensor size isn’t everything. Look at the M2 vs the P4P V2. Both have 1” sensors but the P4Pv2 clearly blows it out of the water.

I dunno I’m just calling it like I see it

You are trying to choose between a proven workhorse of a commercial drone and something that is much-hyped but hasn't been released.
A few additional points:
The P4 pro first came out 3.5 yrs ago but no maker has produced anything better in the same price bracket yet.
It's available now and is a proven performer
It's the industry standard and well supported by 3rd party apps for specialised uses

The Evo2 comes from a company with a tiny fraction of the market share of DJI
Autel has a history of over-promising and under-delivering (or not delivering) and releasing much later than indicated.
Has anyone seen their 1" sensor camera yet?
When is it going to be available?
Is it going to be released this time? (They've been promising it for years already).
Is there good cause to believe that the Evo2 will be as good as the Phantom 4 pro?
Can you be sure it will be better in ways that are important to you?

You see it differently from most.
The general consensus is that there's very little to choose between the two in the way of performance.

There’s really no comparison. The M2 isn’t a real 1” sensor camera as to get a decent picture you have to use HQ mode which only uses only a fraction of the sensor. Plus you get a mechanical shutter with the P4P.

These are just the irrefutable facts without getting into the subjective details.

I know the P4 pro is very good, I have two of them and they are my preferred drone.
But you are exaggerating to say that the P4Pv2 clearly blows it out of the water.
Flight performance is similar and both are capable of producing very good imagery.
The difference in the results are not enough to argue about.

They are absolutely not irrefutable facts since the Mavic 2 Pro is most certainly a 1in sensor device and you can get great results from it, far better than from a 1/2.3in sensor. This photo shows much shadow detail can be recovered which is most definitely using the full 1in sensor size:

The P4P is slightly better but not the huge difference you are falsely claiming.

I say it’s not a real 1” sensor because it doesn’t use the full sensor in the only usable mode (HQ mode) effectively making it a smaller sensor camera. The result is the same as taking a full 1” sensor and cropping the image. This should be obvious based on the fact that HQ mode produces a lower FOV image. It has been cropped and the data lost.

This photo is an over exaggeration to illustrate a point. The crop factor isn’t this great in reality. The HQ mode gives you about a 55 degree FOV and the full FOV is about 75 degrees so you end up using only about 73% of the sensor in HQ mode. The M2 is effectively a 3/4 sensor size camera roughly half way between a real 1” sensor camera and a 1/2.3” sensor camera.

The P4P v2 does not do this and therefore is a real 1” sensor camera.

This is irrefutable. Whether or not you think the resulting quality is as good or not is a subjective opinion.

The M2 does have the 10-bit color modes so it has that going for it. I personally would rather get the sharpest images possible since color is something I can more easily deal with in post. That is my subjective opinion.

Keep in mind these photos have been processed and sharping has been applied to the M2 photos in post but not to the P4P v2 images cause they don’t need it and the M2 stills taken from video are still too soft to my eye.

Because we are talking about video quality

No, you were talking about photos but on finding your 'irrefutable facts' are complete nonsense, you've started doing rapid u-turns.

Your first post (before you try and edit to hide your mistakes) talks about photos, not video. The primary advantage of the 1in sensor is photos not video and the Mavic 2 Pro despite all your nonsense claims above it uses the full sensor and can offer image quality similar to the P4P.

I really don't know why people come onto forums like this and make up such rubbish, it's not helpful at all.

I happen to think the P4P still takes better photos but the difference isn't as severe as it is with video.

Picture, as in motion picture. If you see a good TV you say "wow that TV has a nice..."

Anyway, I can see I have hit a sore spot with you so I'll let this go and it wasn't my intention when I brought this up originally to start a debate about this.

Circling back to my original point was that the Evo II having a 1" sensor doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna be as good as the P4P V2. I don't know that it won't be as good, I just think we have to wait and see.
