I know this is the Mavic forum but I posted this question on the phantom site and got 0 responses! So I’m hoping someone here that also has Phantoms has dealt with Dji on this one? So many P3Ps have lost the video feed because of the same issue during the recent FW update I can’t believe no one has sent there bird into Dji for a fix! So has anyone done this and how much did Dji charge? Did they just replace the Gimble board? The Whole Camera? Or did they reflash the board? I’m trying to arm myself with enough information before calling them so I have a idea how they are dealing with it? I don’t get much help on the Phantom pilots site I know there’s a lot of younger people there so that may have something to do with it? Thanks

DJI will probably want to replace the whole gimbal and charge you for it. The gimbal boards on the Phantom 3 series had a nasty habit of frying during FW updates if you didnt have a fan blowing high on the gimbal while it was updating. When the gimbal fried, it would stop the video feed, and the boards were hard to come by. I have replaced probably 50 or more of them for people. I used to buy Phantoms, strip the gimbal for the board, and use it for a repair.

Yea that’s what I figured I wish Dji would fix them free since it was there update that killed them! They didn’t tell anyone to take any special precautions during the update! I still think if enough of these were damaged and Dji refuses to make good on it a class action lawsuit would be in order! But I don’t know what the percentage was of drones that got damaged

Hey DroneJI, I have the exact problem. I ended up sending my drone in to assess what was going on. They sent me an email with 6 items requiring replacement for a total of $400, and $200 in service fees. When I told them the drone has never been crashed and asked how all these components were bad, they couldn’t tell me. I requested a ticket to be entered in for a dispute on the quote they sent me and requested someone to contact me and explain to me what exactly was the cause or how all these items went bad all of a sudden. No one ever contacted me except to send me an email saying I owed them $600. Finally I told them to send the drone back un-repaired and that I was speaking to my lawyer about this situation. They kept my drone for 4 months before sending it back. Like you, my drone was rendered useless after the latest FW update. I have yet to be able to get it repaired. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know... Thank you
