Dji smart controller less range than stock remote

Did you power cycle the controller while in flight? Whenever I get the quiz in flight, I RTH and land first. Really annoying.

I am the only one with weak signal? Stock remote goes much further

Air 2 controller has better range
Smart controller drops at just over 1 mile
Should be about 6 mile range
Clear sky nothing around
