RTH CAME UP WITH OBSTACLE AVOIDANCE WILL BE DISABLED DURING LANDING

Flying my drone today it came up with this message when it automatically started return to home:

(Obstacle avoidance will be disabled during landing)

The day was sunny but quite windy it also just sat hovering and gave me a message saying slide to land just wondering should I be worried.

I had a similar event yesterday afternoon with the SC and the Mavic Zoom. I took off with almost no wind followed by 13.62 MPH @ 265' AGL...which is not unusual for my flights. The wind rapidly increased to 28.25 MPH (not normal) after I was around 1000 feet downrange from the home point and received the red high wind notification followed immediately by the yellow 'Excessive Attitude Angle Detected, Forward Obstacle Avoidance Has Stopped Working' message. I immediately turned around, descended to treetop level and beat feet for home. Since I was flying back directly into the wind, it wasn't hard to see the extreme nose down angle of the Zoom, so also wasn't difficult for me to understand why the forward sensors dropped off line...especially since they were looking at the tops of the trees. Had it struggled much more, I would have switched into "Sport' mode. So ultimately, at least by my experience, but depending on the amount of wind you encountered, along with aircraft attitude, would consider the message normal.

I'm using the Air Data.com website to upload/synchronize all my DJI Flights. With that service comes the ability to analyze your basic flight data and monitor the health of your drone and batteries. The pricing ranges from 'free' up to 14.99 USD per month. What you saw in the screen shot in the earlier post is only a fraction of the data available for review. Head on over there and study up on what all is provided. I really think it's worthwhile if you do a lot of flying. The link is posted below.

All the best,

John
