From Dji, "Pilots will still receive app support and firmware updates. “As we understand it, operators can continue to use their current DJI equipment,” a DJI spokesperson said. “We have no plans to discontinue product support via firmware or app updates.”

Parts are less certain, so they suggest we contact dealers for answers there.

DJI probably believes this nonsense will end at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I do.
No, I think they realize it won't end, but they also aren't going to leave us without app support and FW updates that are still available internationally. No cost for letting us access them, too. My bigger concern is they are pro-actively treating the drones they are not selling in the U.S. as though they are, by unnecessarily forcing RID broadcasting when we could just add an external module.

That’s a shame. Some community written improvements to the software would have been good.

There is nothing to indicate that this will end any time soon. Just ask Huawei when they think their ban will be lifted.

If they can get an extension to allow an agency to perform an audit, that would be a path forward.

Both parties voted for the legislation to ban DJI and other Chinese companies over the years.

Drone enthusiasts are a small constituency so they have little power.

Maybe first responders can be more politically persuasive.

While I would bet that a security audit is not currently happening and will not happen, a security agency that conducts it would not necessarily announce that they did indeed start one.

At this point it looks like this DJI addition to the covered list will happen. I am hoping for the best until I can hope no longer. Maybe a Hail Mary happens and the deadline gets extended or right before the date, a national security agency announce the results of their audit (yeah right).

At least we have several new models that will be relevant into the next couple of years to tide us over (Mavic 4, Matrice 4 series, Matrice 400, Neo 2, Avata 360). I am going to be so jealous though when in future I read about a new Mavic 5 Pro or a Matrice 5 series with whatever incredible upgrades they have.

Just because they aren't FCC approved doesn’t mean they can't physically be flown. Civil disobedience can be a wonderful justification! LOL!
