Through some mistake with Apple, I received a second Mavic. Of course, they still remembered to charge me. Now, I own two. I have $1000 alone in the first Mavic and another $1000 in extra batteries, accessories, HDMI tablet and FPV goggles. Owning a "backup" Mavic would only be a 1/3rd increase with the new drone budget of $3000, but would keep me flying in case of loss, damage, defects of the first Mavic. Is it nutty to own two? Buying a totally new setup (DJI P4P?) would require probably another $500 in model specific accessories in addition to the drone cost.

I have a Phantom 4 Pro+ and a Mavic Pro. If u have the means I say go for it. Nothing wrong with owning more than one Drone.

If I had 2 Mavics I would have a few friends with fly with me to be my wing men. Kind of like the Phantom 4 would be Airforce 1 and the Mavics could be the military escorts.

Either way, I feel the Mavic is a classic!

Sell it to one of the people on the forum who are having fits of rage about not receiving theirs yet.

Currently I have 3 drones ( A Mavic, A Phantom 4 PRO and a Phantom 4 ). At any given time I have 2 drones. I am not in a big hurry but trying to sell the P4

In terms of picture and video the Mavic is very close to the Phantom 4. Huge difference between the Mavic and the Phantom 4 PRO. Before I bought the P4 Pro I was going to keep the P4 and the Mavic, but then I thought that both drones, aside from the size, are somewhat redundant.
When I'm on the go or traveling the Mavic is the go to drone. When I am not traveling just flying locally and want Professional looking pictures the Phantom 4 PRO is the go to drone.

I guess having a Mavic and a Phantom 4 PRO is having the best of both worlds within a budget.

Is it nutty to own two?
It's nutty ONLY if you don't fly both of them, such as flying with a spouse, friend, son or daughter simultaneously. If that's not the case for you, I suggest you sell it and get a P4P AFTER DJI gets the bugs worked out of the craft in a couple months, giving you enough time to get use to the Go4 app, while flying the Mavic. This assumes you are nutty like me and can't fly enough to satisfy the craving to "fly like a bird". If it turns out you aren't as passionate about flying and shooting video and photos, then maybe one Mavic is all your need until you feel the need to move up to a P4P for higher quality photos/video.

Having 2 can make troubleshooting and comparing for defects a lot easier.......

Owning a spare piece of equipment that is used a Hobby (or as others call it a Toy) that costs $1,000 that will only go down in value (I will take a guess that a NIB mavic flyless in 6 months will be worth $700 to $800)........
SELL IT
or
SEND IT BACK
now

If you have the need for 2 drones, then get a different one!!!

Anyways..... You asked, and that is my thoughts :D o_O

Well let me think .. I got ... uhm, Emax 250, Emax 280, Align MR25, Phantom2, Inspire1, Mavic - ok thats 6 - as well as helicopters and stuff - they all have their characters or use - I give first tuitions on the Phantom2 without any thoughts of crashing a valuable as the resell value is almost nothing ... the fpv racers well for racing - the Inspire for the bigger shots and the Mavic for travelling and quick ones ... there is always use for plenty of gear if not find one :)

Hmm. Long slippery slope to addiction, I think.

If I get another anytime soon, it will definitely be the P4P.

Sell it. Technology moves fast. Put it torwards the Mavic Pro 2. I'm sold on this one. I will buy the next version. With the amount of sales they received I guarantee there will be one as well.

I don't think its nutty. I'm the kind of guy that always has a backup even if its not identical; two cars, two motorcycles, two guitars, 4 prosumer drones... wait that didn't completely fit... Point is I always like having a backup. My wife on the other hand doesn't keep backup things (not talking about household type consumables). She figures if what she has breaks and needs another, she'll buy it then. No need keeping something around you aren't using or hardly using, free up the cash to use for other things...

IMO, if its not a financial issue I'd keep it... But if you are like my wife, you'd return it, take the refund/credit and only buy a second one "IF" needed....

It's not nutty, but I'd rather have two different models than two of the same. So I'd send it back and get a different one or put that money toward a newer model when it comes out. They seem to update the line fairly frequently. But that's just how I'd do it. You do you :)
