What's not intelligent about that? I agree a Mavic isn't likely to sit on a shelf for months, so not likely there will be time for the battery to discharge. But LiPos DO self-dicharge over time. Might take several months to be significant, but it does happen.
Ask those who left their batteries alone for several months and found they went bad.
