Do you use landing gear all the time? never or sometimes?

Let us know what you think after using them in the desert. I don't think any of them offer enough clearance. If I look around I can always find something to launch from. I prefer to land in my hand in almost all situations. It's not a catch like you might have to do in a boat..It's really easily done. Just assure yourself that the drone is hovering properly (get comfortable with the procedure before doing it in gusty conditions) Approach from an angle with the drone probably just a little lower than you're comfortable with at first and over good level ground. Put your hand under the drone..you will be a long ways below the props and ease back on the left stick. Naturally don't do this backed up against wall or your car. If you start to feel stressed..just step away..no harm in that.

do the propellers shut down once it hits your hand because of the sensor on the bottom?

I use leg extensions on my Mini all the time. I wouldn't even think of flying without them. It would seem to me that the extra length on the front legs, in the event of a forward crash they might offer some more protection for the gimbal in some instances, perhaps flipping the drone rather than allowing it to auger straight in.

no..actually you have to pull the stick back, and to the right after it settles into your hand.. Don't try to grab the drone it will resist. just ease the stick back and the motors will begin to slow. It's really easier done than explained. Make sure you are on good footing and don't crowd yourself. You are only moving the left stick so if the drone is behaving itself it's only going to go up or down. you are looking for a gentle decent into your hand.

Never used them. Mostly I hand launch and land. Nothing extra to carry, and you can land and take off in any terrain or mountainside.

Never. If it is really sandy/dusty (like at the beach) I do a hand launch/land. Super simple and no added weight tot he drone.
