does the mavic air 2 work without cell service

It works just fine like you can walk without cell service.
No help needed ... just fly.
I appreciate the response… Been flying my drone for years, but I ran into a problem when I was in the mountains In Idaho because I didn't have cell service.do I have to put it in some different type of mode so I can view my flight through Cell phone because my cell phone is my controller Viewing screen… How can I fly it and see what it sees without cell service?

I can't tell what your issue was from your description but you don't need cell service to view your flight on your phone.
And you don't need to "put it in some different type of mode" or anything like that.
There's no trick to it at all.

If you power up your mobile phone (your phone can be placed in airplane mode so there are no wifi or bluetooth or cellular signals needed) and then you connect the mobile phone to your drone's remote controller using a cable, you should be able to fly the drone using the remote controller (when you connect the remote controller to the drone) and use your mobile phone's display only to view the camera and see the controls.

You don't need cell service to fly any DJI drone. The only time you might need cell service is if you are flying and want to display maps in real time, as you fly. The controller and the drone have their own dedicated wifi type system and this is what binds the two together and sends the video signal.

All your phone is used for, is to act as a viewing screen or monitor, to display what the camera is seeing as you fly, plus gives you data about the flight displayed on your phone screen, just as it would be if you were using an auxiliary monitor to see what your drone's camera was seeing.

Could you explain what issue(s) you were having?
