This @#%# pi$$es me off so much.....

“We hit a drone this afternoon — first one,” said L.A. County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone. “Our Super Scooper hit a small drone.”

He said the incident occurred over the Palisades fire Thursday. He didn’t have details on who was flying the drone, but said the drone was destroyed and the Super Scooper — a massive fixed-wing plane that can drop large amounts of water — was damaged.

“It put a hole in the wing,” he said. “It’s grounded now.”

I was going to ask if there was anyone down there taking drone videos of the destruction. Then I realized there's probably a lot of TFR going on.
It appears someone didn't get the memo.

P.S. Getting pissed at things one cannot control is pointless.

I won't allow their ads, so I can't read it.

They aren't letting anyone near the areas without permission and are threatening arrest of anyone caught trying. They are catching looters thank goodness BUT the area is just too big to fully cover! The devastation is too much for words! Now I know what it would look like if a nuke went off in the Palisades.
You know things are bad when Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is running down the street telling people to get out Fast!

Everyone with their drones out trying to make it about themselves as fire chasers. Let wildfire and EMT officials do their thing.

Based on Fox 11 L.A. footage, it looks like a plane on loan from Quebec, Canada that was hit.

It's probably Chinese spy drones. Or aliens from NJ

One of the well known feux news agencies (I won’t mention) was showing drone footage earlier today that was actually flying over actively burning buildings and over fire trucks and crews in action. I think I know why some idiots want to fly in these situations, I wonder how much they are getting for the footage. Shame on the news for showing and sensationalizing it.

Kind of makes me wonder how press passes play into disaster situations.

If they hit a drone, remainins of that drone will be all around the impact area, so show a forensic report about it with pics and a detailed analysis or else it's just clickbait.

As we've seen hundreds of times, everything is a drone these days, so why should I batter the real drone community about it without a single proof but plain text? Who knows.

You hit something with a plane, it was a drone, end of story. So glad the korean airliner didn't jump on the "we hit a drone and had to crash-land and everyone died" clickbait wagon.

At this moment the Government has announced that they will be deploying the Aerial armor Drone detection system in Los Angeles If you fly you will be caught and Drone operators face huge fines and a year in jail! keep unauthorized Drones out of the L.A. Area!

Birds don’t put holes in wings. The evidence is clear enough from a hole punched in the wing that they hit a flying hard object.

Just saw an interview and it seems the pilots had no idea that they hit an object. The people on the ground spotted the hole and reported it.
Drone? probably BUT Who knows really.

Did you miss the part about where this took place?

Drone collides with firefighting aircraft over Palisades fire, FAA

I may seem to be going out on a limb here, but I think whatever went flying after impact wound up as ashes whether it was a drone or otherwise......but what else would be up there that would make a hole that shape?
I give you that a bird may dent it...but it took something hard to do that

We have 2 of the Canadian Super Scoopers on long term loan for the last 2 decades. With a hole in the wing that plane which saves homes and lives will be out of commission for weeks. They are an incredible aircraft and this is beyond shameful. One simple drone owner caused a large part of the fire fighting ability to be curtailed.

Pretty lucky strike- dead center on the wing but also not into the windshield. I’d say it was a drone and hope they catch whoever did it.

There may be parts of the drone inside the wing. Some plane wings also have internal fuel tanks, if that plane had those it could’ve been catastrophic for them had there been a puncture and ignition.

I hope so as well!
There is no need to fly a Drone anywhere near an emergency such as this!!!
I will say I am sure the damage was caused by an idiot with a drone However I have seen these aircraft first hand do some VERY amazing things in the air and right over treelines! These people are HERO'S
I am surprised these aircraft don't return from every mission beat to heck!

Planes are way fragiler than they look.

Firefighting planes fly low enough that usually get damaged by trees, cables, TV antennas and so on. For the same reason, they can also get hit by debris or things carried by the wind, which would be quite reasonable as the wind is quite high on that area.

If it was a drone, enough of it will be inside the wing for the forensics to find the exact model or even S/N, same if it was another thing.

Whenever you are flying a plane it's pretty unlikely that you realized whatever hit the plane, specially if the hit is not on the cockpit area, you just hear the noise (or not) and that's all. Drone is the joker these days, hence is not a drone until empirically proved contrary.

This used to be Pacific Palisades. This is a Pic of a very small area. IT is NOT a Drone pic! Its nothing but the same view,.. same thing for miles and miles until you reach the ocean. Altadena is the same. Nothing but charred out homes and businesses.
They say the Winds will Die down.....For a few Days then, Well its starts over. Bless the Firefighters!
