Already contacted the FAA. Totally useless. Evidently drone piolts can run wild and do anything they want to in this area. Thanks for all the advice. Anyone looking to fly drones illegally just come here. No rules.

I think you're forgetting that the FAA and the police are only interested in going after honest, law-abiding citizens that make mistakes or thinks he knows the law. Going after known criminals who repeatedly break the law and flaunt the law is no fun and it isn't rewarding or exciting. Much cooler to tangle with someone who think they know their rights. This is how you can get the police to show up pretty quickly in force when it has to do with a drone.

That looks like some of the officers around here. They just make up the laws as they go. Then if someone calls them on it the back up and try another one.

I still can't believe the FAA doesn't do anything about illegal activity. No wonder so many planes crash. I wonder what it would take to actually get one of them out from behind their desk and do something? They definitely won't touch drones. I always heard drone pilots had to adhere to to rules and regulations.

Some laws are in place as a way to punish people if something goes bad. They aren't there to prevent things from going bad.
So, with this instance, if someone is flying illegally, so be it. If someone does some damage while flying illegally, they will get the book thrown at them.

Police cannot possibly enforce every single law all of the time.

Think of it this way. Jaywalking is illegal. It's not enforced.
Speeding is illegal and less than 1:1,000,000 incidents get busted for it.

Our last sherrif was just arrested by the feds a couple months ago. Again. He's an ex employee of this this particular business. The entire sherrifs dept is corrupt. So they're not going to do anything that would cut into their secondary business. They've already told us that they won't touch it. We're pretty much alone in this ordeal. There are some folks here that are talking about taking care of this particular drone theirselves. Definitely not a good idea but we don't have many other options.

The FAA gets thousands of reports of Drone activity every day. If some schmuck post a video on YouTube that alone can tie up the phone lines for Days.
The FAA isnt 911! They first have to decide if your claim is even worth investigating. If so they will react.
You must also realize that there is no LT. Columbo working at the FAA brilliantly trapping suspects, So if your expecting investigators to immediately fan out in your area to arrest your suspect. You are gonna be disappointed.
The FAA generally will want some sort of "filed" complaint instead of word of mouth.
You say you have a corrupt sheriff and because of this, nothing can be done. WELL- in that case, sorry but I must ask you and your voting friends why this corrupt individual has managed to stay in their position if this corruption exists and is so "Known"
Just because the FAA doesnt send a convoy of guys with suits and flight computers to your town to investigate your particular claim does not make your area a free for all for illegal Drone activity!
If you and your friends decide to "do something yourself" with this Drone, I can assure you that that is a good way to end up bankrupt and in Jail. Vigilante justice will get you nothing but trouble.
RECORD this Drone activity and send it to the local news outlet. You know they will run with a Drone story, and then you may get the Feds to come help you.
I can also assure you that inviting your buddies over to fly Drones illegally WILL get the FAA to knock on your door...... BUT you wont like the reason!

When I read where people complain about their corrupt police not investigating something like a drone flying around, I just roll my eyes and consider the source.
It's far more likely that a cop is lazy than corrupt. I'm not saying there are no corrupt cops. I'm saying that they tend to focus on actual situations where public safety is involved, otherwise they'd rather be eating donuts (sarcasm).

The news reporters are always looking for a story. Good advice to call the news outlets. If they won't check it out then it's not even worth your time to complain.
