Hi,
Apologies if this is in the wrong location. I am off to Cape Town soon and wondered if any of you intrepid flyers have flown drones there and of so where to go / not to go, where to fly and apart from the obvious where not to fly. i.e. is it okay to fly on the top of table mountain etc?
Thank you kindly

Table Mountain is a National Park and therefore off limits for drones. Also check the web for the restricted zones close to the CT airport. I remember seeing it extends into CT city area, and also there are a lot of chartered light airplanes and choppers flying around the harbour area and along the coast, so keep the altitude low and LOS of course.
I had a close encounter with a light aircraft flying just above the surfline at 10m and my drone was at 30m! But this was up the West Coast and well away from restricted airspace, but just watch out for the idiots who love to do the low level flying in their private planes! Otherwise head for the quiet open spaces and fly. The biggest problem is the high winds and gusts you will experience in CT right now. Causing a lot of issues for the fire fighters on Table Mountain.
