Drone halts Raven vs Bengals game

If you are a recreational pilot and you break the recreational rules that recreational pilots must follow, you no longer take advantage of the recreational exception
Don't you still require a trust certificate or something like that, even if you are flying recreationally?

Yes you need to have a TRUST certificate if you are flying recreationally. Not sure if he had one or not but that is the least of his worries.

Another slap on the wrist.

Not really a slap on the wrist. Probation? 100 hours of community service. Fine. That should get his attention and pay back the community.

"Suarez admitted that the drone was not registered, and that he lacked the required training and licensing, including a remote pilot certificate, to operate a UAS. Suarez also admitted in his plea that he flew the drone directly over the stadium despite knowing about the flight restrictions. "

Unregistered drone
No Part 107
Busting a TFR
Flying over people
Flying BVLOS

About 20 Boeings and about 30 Airbuses also passed over the stadium and the match was not interrupted. What was the danger represented by that drone? Was it a military drone equipped with missiles? What harm could a drone weighing a few hundred grams cause? You need to think about this before approving all the stupid laws that are being drawn up by some who have no idea what a recreational drone is!!!

Pretty sure the TFR is valid for only up to a certain height above the stadium which includes the maximum height of drones but not most manned aircraft. Apparently the TFR is in place to protect against a drone strike against large gatherings but in reality the TFR is in place to protect the media rights of private network broadcasting companies in my opinion.

That's what the pragmatist in me says... All about the money and bugger-all about 'protecting the public'.

On this side of the pond: whenever there's a premier league match, there's 10km range GPS jamming around the stadium as well as an official 24hr NOTAM to 'protect the public'.

Footie games that aren't pay-per-view or televised? no 'protection' at all.
