Droning in Vietnam

Thinking of taking my mavic air with me to Vietnam in September 19,
Having read seen / read lots of conflicting reports regarding Vietnamese laws.
Do i take a risk taking it in my hand luggage, or go through official channels?
Anyone up to speed with current situation in Vietnam.

Oh golly, I'd love to! I used to be a schoolteacher in the Central Highlands, and there are some gorgeous places that I'd love to fly, especially around DaLat. If you go on YouTube and search for "Ha Long Bay" you'll see lots of fantastic videos taken by drone. That has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth, and was the inspiration for the "floating islands" graphics depicted in the film "Avatar."

I wish drones were around when I was in Vietnam ( Marine Corp, Chu Lai 1966-68) The colors in the jungle and the South China Sea were spectacular.
