Eagles trained to attack rogue drones in Canada!

I’d be surprised that the handlers would put them at risk with the drones. Brisbane airport hired a hawker to chase birds from the air strip. But he withdrew from the contract as his hawk kept getting attacked by magpies ?

French Police as well as the Dutch have both had such programs, although the Dutch have suspended theirs supposedly. Here is a video of one of the Dutch teams training a golden eagle, who is very proud of himself after taking down the old Phantom (in an admittedly cheesy staged VIP attack scenario):

Training Eagles or Hawks to attack drones would be a stupid idea. Apart from the injury that this could cause to valuable protected birds, how many hundreds would you need spread around each major airport along with skilled trainers, just to have a possible change at taking down a single rogue drone.
It is just the press after a story, as it would be just as useless at their being trained to do deliveries!

Seems abusive to the birds.

Yea, the last thing that they want around airports is more birds - published on 1st April.
