Exposure Meter Not Metering

I've recently upgraded from flying with an iPad mini 2 to an iPad mini 4: when switching to manual camera settings, noticed my exposure meter no longer registers, stays locked at a -1 reading no mater what ISO or frame change I make. Any solutions for fixing this?
