I got my Part 107 certificate and registered my drones under Part 107 then I started trying to verify that my drones were broadcasting RID... dead end
Between the DJI drones and Autel drones no RID / Drones show up on 5 apps on two differnt phones. The app Drone Scanner seems the most rebust with the ability to disable WiFi or Bluetooth, it was created by DroneTag.
Has anyone found an APP that works?
After $500 (Testing/Part 107 online course/trave cost/lost work) and days of time I can't fly my drones now.

With regards to RID there are only 2 things that legally stop you from flying your drone. First, you have to FAA register and include your drone details as well as the RID info. Once you do that, your drone model when equipped with standard RID must be on the approved list and therefore, if the RID is not working properly, the drone will stop you from flying. It's not up to to the pilot to verify RID as a prerequisite to lift off. However, after you are flying and you learn your RID becomes non-functional, the pilot should cease to flying as soon as possible.

In the case of attaching an external RID module to your drone, use your best judgment. If the RID module is on the approved list and you can power up the attached module and the indicator LEDs are reading properly, that should be enough for you to fly with; you can assume it is working per specification. Nowhere is it a requirement for the pilot to read and verify the broadcast details exist or the accuracy of those details or anything else including the technical specifications of the RID module or it's compatibility with any app.

Don't sweat the Apps they arent that good anyway as stated above if you are having problems with your RID your drone will not fly. As long as you have done your best to insure your RID is working you will be fine I would be surprised if the app saw the Drone really. Go Flying you are fine.

This is the law:
Title 14 Chapter I Subchapter F Part 89 Subpart B 89.110.B (b) Standard remote identification unmanned aircraft requirements. A person may operate a standard remote identification unmanned aircraft only if the unmanned aircraft meets all of the following requirements:
2 .Its remote identification equipment is functional and complies with the requirements of this part from takeoff to shutdown.

At issue is how to tell, the RPIC must know before take off or shortly there after. I have dronetag BS modules for some RC planes I'm building so they are not operational to test with. I'll contact Dronetag about this issue, I can't assume something when they can fine on a whim.

Are you going to be doing 107 work near an FAA facility? How would the FAA even Know? I am NOT at all telling you to fly without RID BUT the truth is "nobody Knows" Your RID is most likely working fine You can if you wish download the numerous RID apps in the hopes one may work. If you are flying a DJI and you are not getting an RID warning your RID is Functioning normally and you have NO worries. I use Dronetag internals and externals never a problem.
The FAA does not fine on a whim as a matter of fact if you have done everything you can to insure you are compliant and somehow the FAA finds your RID to be faulty you won't get a fine just a boring letter about RID.

Are you using IOS? It only detects Bluetooth RID.

If your RID compliant drone is not broadcasting, it will not allow you to take off. The apps are hit and miss and that is not part of being compliant. Your drone will not take off if it is not broadcasting.

Simple question no one has asked yet - what model(s) of drone are you flying? Does it have built in RID and do you have current firmware installed?

I found the issue finally, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra WiFi not working right. I dugout my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and loaded Drone Scanner, launched my Mavic 2 Zoom to 150 AGL, Drone Scanner says 1581nnnnnnnn Manufacture NewBeeDrone Model BeeID with the Lat+Lon. The one drone in the FAA DOC database from NewBeeDrone starts with 2AC7Z - Drone Scanner uses the RID to look up that information, seems they got that fubared.

DJI:
Mavic 2 Zoom
Avata 2
Mini 4 Pro
Autel:
EVO Lite +

I have three DroneTag BS (1gram) modules I purchased when they first released them
I have 5 Holyton H60 Modules for some of the RC aircraft
Of course there is the DJI Mini 2 , DJI Tello EDU, and a few FPV drones I've never flow.
and the DJI Neo that just got here... What might work with the Neo is adding RID (Holyton 13.5 grams) and I can fly it over people as a <250 drone but I'm sure the FAA will issue a ACs to stop that.
