This is not the still-awaited FAA safety course, but it is a free online FAA Small UAS safety course that gets you a certificate to carry when you fly. My certificate is attached, and the course is at faasafety.gov. It does not require a Part 107 license.

Good to have when you’re out flying. If you are a Part 107, it’s a great item to add to your qualifications when bidding a job.
