I think you will be safe with 3800 x 1500 Really close to that.
Fits perfect on my Wide screen monitor and that is what I post.

Take you image (probably RAW) into your photo program and save it as a JPEG. On the save dialogue box, you can move the slider to a lower resolution. I have found that if I am less than about 1.3 MB it will go through, but to be safe, try to stay under 1 MB.
