The AMA is an old organization and while many of the rules are getting ridiculous They (or we I suppose) are at our core a Training and Safety based entity. Any rule that could harm even the most brittle person on the field is going to be put in place.
Many AMA fields don't even have a place for Drones yet, even tho they already most likely posses FRIA status.
The conduct and rules for Drones in the AMA and at their Fields is in its infancy and to start guessing as to how this will all actually occur "on the field" is still up for conjecture. At the field I fly you are way out in the back with the Heli's... How is that safe...for me lol.
Will you have to fly at night with lights? YES
Will you be able to Hand land your over 250 Drone on an AMA approved Airfield? NO......We don't have a medical team standing by.
Will you have alot of new restrictions? YES But I think we all Knew this. To base the rules of flying "While on AMA property" with the rules of the CBO is a stretch tho,
Just too add...I fly my Drones at the AMA field I fly them towards myself and land them (crash) at my feet I have done this in front of the chief and he has not said a word My freestyle Roma is over 250 grams too.

perhaps all true but with all due respect, that's not how the faa has positioned it. the recreational flyer, in order to qualify for the exemption, must fly by the rules and regulations or else the exemption could be invalid. one of the rules for the recreational flyer is to pick a cbo and then follow the guidelines from that cbo. if you don't follow the guidelines from that cbo then you might not be able to fly under the recreational exception.

does the Ama say hand-catching is not ok at Ama fields but hand-catching is ok everywhere else? it's easy enough for me to simply pick another cbo but that's not the point. personally I don't think bending the Ama rules is a cbo violation but I don't get to make up and interpret the unclear rules but I *do* have to live with them should "someone" try to enforce their own interpretation. would you like me to post a video of what a misunderstanding of the drone rules looks like?

The AMA is not a regulatory entity and has no control of what is done off the field.
The CBO's Regulations and the Regulations used could differ in the long run.
Will you someday lose your Trust card and you AMA card for hand catching your Mavic ?I dont think so.
Thats akin to saying you will automatically lose your license if caught speeding.
I think the Video itself is mostly fearmongering by the "regulatory Commissioner" lol guy for some Drone outfit in Michigan.
