Good question! Went to fly the sunset yesterday and spent the first 30 mins waiting for everything to update. Made it up just in time to watch the last sliver. Frustrating!

Yes, piss poor planning. Land the helicopter at 1:30, charge the batteries, drive home, get hit with firmware update at 3:45. Should have planned on a toy helicopter needing a firmware update while driving home. Lesson learned, oh wise one.

You know you can defer the update to whenever you feel ready for it if ever, right? Makes no sense updating NOW if you have something to shoot...

Just ignore the notification. I’ve been doing that since April 2017 and never lost a flight due to a firmware update. Wind, rain, and lack of charged batteries, but never due to a firmware update being available!
