I hope I can upload it... it also shows the difficulty I had trying to get the drone to follow me in Active Track, in either 'Trace', from behind, or 'Profile' from beside. In both instances it was trying but failed to lock on and follow, it had a half-hearted attempt.

OK - what happened to the video I attached then? I clicked 'Attach files' and the video was there. Then I pressed 'Post Reply', but there is no video.... what have I done wrong please?

Wish I could help...but I’ve never posted a photo or video online.

But I am willing to learn along with you. Just follow the thread.

Trying again with a Yoo Toob link this time. I don't like the fuzzy transition, so I won't use that again.

With You Tube I have learned to be patient. The initial presentation from You Tube is fuzzy. They usually require about an hour to get out a decent video, and with 4K, sometimes it takes them hours. Another reason I use Vimeo too.

I meeant the one transition I tried which is a fuzzy transition - it is aweful. I shall just stick to the cross dissolve one.

I did another video this afternoon, out with my dog in the woods, not drone so not here. I was listening to the audio while editing and there was a full green strip.... finished video is a silent movie.

cross fade or cross dissolve is my favorite and usual transition. So professional looking without all of the razzamatazz.= that cheapens the look.

The trouble is, there is no way, not that I have found, of trying a transition and then removing it... I tried but ended up removing the whole clip, not the transition, so I went back a stage and left it as is. I had done too much to lose! I haven't worked out how you save a project yet, it tells me I have, but I can't find where they are kept!

It is really simple to remove cross dissolve transitions, or any other transition, Just put the cursor over it, highlight it, and click delete. You can also adjust its length by dragging out the edges. Give it a try and let me know.

Yea, I've had a little trouble with getting active track to stay locked on. Some things it just won't. The last video I posted had 2 active track shots, one following me and one beside me, and it just worked. Every time I have a theory about what it will or will not track, it proves me wrong. I once thought "contrast," but your safety outfit in the boat had PLENTY of contrast with the water.

That is what I tried, but the whole video clip, that I had spent ages (an hour or more) trying to nibble correct went at the same time. I gave up trying - I don't know where the sound disappeared to either. I have only just got the hang of chopping bits of video out.. give me time!

Try to isolate the desired footage first- e.g.: draw a box around the footage to be saved, then drag it to the right out of the way. Just leave the end with the cross dissolve attached to the first segments. Click on the cross dissolve to highlight it, hit delete key, then drag back or ripple delete to replace the body of the clips back to their attachment.

Another tip- SAVE your work frequently. Then you would not have lost it. I try to make it a habit of hitting the file>save button after each clip edit.

Wow, I didn't know you could. Do you have to make a new project each time you save? Or does it keep saving the same one?

No- not at all- just hit save. The first time, I hit "Save as" and give it a name. From thereon in, I just hit save.

I will remember that. Thank you. I have lost the two pane layout on the edit page! Every time I open it now there is only one pane for the video clips. I can't find out what I did, and I can't reset it!

If you are using Premiere Pro, go to the top menu and workspace, then editing. I have saved my own layout up there too. You should have 4 panels-

Can I suggest you try working through some of the instructional material available from Black Magic. Just go to their website. If you are new to editing you will find it helpful. There are also hundreds of instructional videos on UTube. Davinci Resolve can be a little daunting to start with but as you get into it you will find it enormously powerful.

Also have a look at the fantastic deal they have at the moment. If you buy the studio version they will give you free a speed editor. I have been using the free version for a couple of years and just upgraded and got the speed editor.
