Hey everyone, I’m puzzled on this one. I have an app that gives me the conditions at the current time. Any suggestions on why it would be telling me that it isn’t good to fly?

Two Possible reasons: App shows overcast sky (100% cloud cover) - This is most likely the reason given the color coding. And wind showing 6 mph gust - would be total of 12 mph wind.
My guess the app is using a nearby reporting location, an airport or other weather service. Conditions at your location are apparently different.
Assuming you're in an area where it is legal to fly you should be ok. The mistake on the cloud cover is the cause for the no fly recommendation. This app is advisory use it along with your visual cues to make you decision. Don't forget to check wind speeds at higher altitudes as well.

Because it's a stupid app with stupid default settings.Hey everyone, I’m puzzled on this one. I have an app that gives me the conditions at the current time. Any suggestions on why it would be telling me that it isn’t good to fly?
Are there any apps you recommend that might benefit?
This app is fine, but it is only one part of the picture. You can decide for yourself if the app's determination is correct. If the app says wind is calm and you go outside and the trees are bent over double in the wind you factor that into your decision. As the PIC you're responsible for making decision based on the info you have. Cloud cover may not be a factor if you plan to stay below that in any case. Are there any apps you recommend that might benefit?
I think I'm grounded in San Francisco today. Assuming I managed to fly at low altitude I'd be waving goodbye to my Air once it got to 100 feet or so. View attachment 57844View attachment 57845
