My base airport is a class C airport. Therefore I flew to a uncontrolled airport to fly it legally.
Although it is perfectly legal, but I suggest you to ask for the permission from the airport manager first. Always have a handheld radio nearby.
Some uncontrolled airports have much less traffic, thus more desirable.
