Has anyone flown during the lockdown? I'm wondering if it's allowed or not frowned upon by the fuzz.

I don't think the law is too fussed anyway, but even less so at the minute. They have bigger issues.
I've not done more than 4 feet off the ground in my back garden. Only to try the Master Airscrew Props I bought.
I'm gonna get up early tomorrow and go for a bike ride off the beaten track and take my Air with me.

Yeah that's a good plan rather than the field behind where I live, cheers mate

I'm in Ohio under a "Shelter in Place" order. I also live within a 1/2 mile of CLE airport. My place has always been a NFZ. Been firing up the drone and going thru it's menus tweaking things here and there. That's about it.

its really down to interpretation of the new laws ,because of my age and medical conditions, i am classed as a high risk group, and have been told to stay at home for 12 weeks to avoid catching the virus,

The main thing is to keep your distance from others, and that's generally what LEOs are looking for. Since flying a quad is generally a solitary event, I see no issues, although it can attract others to you who are curious.

I've envisioned flying my quads as a POI centered around me with a 6ft radius.

I'm in good health but in the at risk demographic. Still working in the airline biz but with passenger loads of around 10% or less, maybe not for much longer. Then I'll go home to my own rural hilltop in western PA and fly the Mavic again.

The main problem is complying with the drone code.
Most people live in towns so the rules about distance from people and not over congested areas would apply.
Also the visual line of sight is hard in towns.

So nothing different. You cant leave your house to do it - its non essential.

Its worth noting that some police forces are becoming VERY petty about people outdoors, even miles from any other people going for a walk so id expect them to clamp down on drones just because (i) they can and (ii) they're bored.
Speed camera revenue is down, routine police work has basically stopped so most are just sat on their arses or wandering around with nothing really to do.

The police in the peak district, clearly with nothing productive to do any more, released a "shame" drone video of people walking in the area, miles from other people, nobody in groups over 2, doing no harm at all. But they still wasted time and resources filming then releasing this video.

I enjoy using my Mavic as a camera on a 400' tripod, and making different types of panoramas of my neighborhood (from directly over my own house). I've taken some at dawn to catch the Veil of Venus. The Mavic has a bunch of different pano modes, and the free microsoft ICE allows you to merge them into different types of projections.

I have been very lucky as far as my ability to fly during the "Shelter in Place" environment. I have a park that is a little over 700 feet from my house. It it usually deserted during the week days with the exception of some dedicated walkers. I can do some flying and not get within 6 feet of another person. If the park starts to get a little too populated, I just go home. I have spent a lot of time developing "Training" regimens for me to work on as I am a new Drone Pilot. In one week, I will have been flying Drones for two months.

Every recreational activity is not allowed outdoor, except walking, jogging or bicycling at a reasoable distance. So, drone = no

While golfing shag exercise by going to empty soccer field/football pitch, my 6’ away buddy (we went in separate cars) we were practicing our wedges aiming at a bucket on a bald spot at 65 yds Occasionally we saw young roller skaters, a grandma stroller and baby, dogs being escorted around the paved outer ring. No one came close to complaining about getting fresh air and doing ones’ own thing. So I popped my Mav2pro out of backpack. Took a happy flight tho I forgot to re-insert my memory card after last editing session. The onboard memory gave me a chance edit practice, wedge practice, and flying at the park practice. Common sense and don’t push it.

Local law and the interpretation of it vary from place to place. I feel sorry for your situation. Remember this sort of thing when it comes time to vote.

We will surely. Greetz from Belgium.

Well seems to be fine, everyone ignored me while walking their dogs but I need to find more open space, interference from peoples bloody wireless signals is causing me grief while flying.

I have been lucky here on the outskirts of the Lake District, I have to take the dog for a walk so I take both the dog and the drone for a walk.

you are not allowed to go somewhere in your car to fly,how do i know,i contacted my local police, and asked if i could go up to some common land,5 miles from my home by car to fly my drones as my daily exercise, i explained that there is no area near my home to walk to to fly and i told them i would be well away from other people, they politely told me that it did not fall into the reasons they had been given to enforce,so they would be obliged to issue me me with a fine for none compliance so no flying for me at the moment
