Hi

This post is about flying in Italian nature parks, as these park zones are defined in d-Flight. All flight zones are defined in the Italian d-Flight map, which also displays NOTAMs, among other things.

The following is written in the flight rules for the parks in d-Flight:

“On the basis of the Framework Law on National and Regional Protected Areas No. 394 of 1991, overflight at low altitudes could be prohibited. Always check with the park before flying.”

My problem is that the park administrations I have contacted so far have not answered my emails with requests. So far, I have always been forced to avoid the park areas defined in d-Flight. There are a lot of parks and they are very large.

@ Italian drone pilots: What do you do if the park administration does not respond to requests? And what do you do if you can't find out the address of the relevant authority?

Thanks

I'm not in Italy, so I can't speak to those rules, but we have similar rules in Canada here regarding National, Provincial Parks and Conservation Areas. I've been able to get permission to fly in some of them from the park Superintendents. But in all cases, I called and spoke directly to them - explaining what I wanted to do and asking if there was a good time to fly with permission. I shared my footage after flying so they could use it in their publications or research.
