Do you fly 'off season'?

I'm hoping to get my Mavic Pro in the next couple of weeks and am looking forward to flying it (if it ever stops raining here in the UK!). However. I'm aware we're coming to the back end of the summer season and a long winter lies head so what happens then? Is it the done thing to put your Mavic into 'hibernation' or do people fly on regardless?

Clearly weather plays a vital role in how much flying can be done in winter but I'd be curious to know how many members still go out with their drones and enjoy flying them.

There are jut a many opportunities in Winter as any other season, but the camera is a rather poor performer in low light and most scenes look much better with some sun for contrast.
UK temperatures are rarely going to be a problem since it will fly just fine down to at least -10C, though best keep batteries warm until last minute to avoid reduced performance.

A good thing is that there are usually far fewer people about and some interesting sites are closed so you can fly around them without feeling you might annoying other visitors.

LOTS of beautiful footage opportunities in winter if you've got snow/fog/iced trees etc :)

Flew mine in January in the UK, the worst bit was trying to keep warm, the Mavic was fine. I think as long as its dry we are ok to fly here all through the year.

Should anything be done to prepare the Mavic for cold weather flights, like spinning up the motors before take-off to warm them up?

Not really, try and keep the batteries warm seems to be best piece of advice. The Mavic doesn't appear to have any issues with our temperatures. I flew at about zero in January and it was fine. My fingers on the other hand were really numb!

There are several threads about cold weather from last winter on the forum. A guy flew in -30°C or so too.

Only thing is the batteries need to be kept >15°C before flying.
